Sierra Leonean Embassy

-Bring New Light to Sierra Leone-

   -West Chelsea District

Sierra Leone, a country recently freed from a tenuous civil war, has emerged back into the world as a democratic nation.  As a celebration of this achievement, an embassy in New York City provided an opportunity to remake its image in front of the modern world.

This proposal utilized diagrid steel framing to create a multi-layered building envelope to house the design.  The incorporation of tinted glass within these layers created moments of color and life within this envelope.  The basis of the project was to create an open, welcoming embassy to express the return of Sierra Leone.
