San Francisco’s first flagship sustainable design center, the New Standard occupies a single mixed-use building housing sustainable interior design products and local product designers under one roof. A holistic boutique shopping experience open to designers and the public, the building features retail showrooms, product design studio workshops, indoor-outdoor community gathering spaces, roaming supperclub restaurant, coffee bar cafe, fireside hammock lounges, and rooftop gardens. Products showcased here will be manufactured locally, handcrafted, reclaimed, repurposed, felled, organic, fair trade, FSC or Cradle to Cradle certified.
The main objective for the center is to centralize opportunities to collaborate and support sustainability in a holistic, creative, educational and inspiring environment. It offers the community an example of how sustainability can not only find its rightful place in our urban society, but that it can combine many aesthetics and be a joyful balance of health, creativity and community.
