I enjoy drafting my own projects because so many details can and should be worked out on paper first to prevent time delays, cost over runs and frustration by the contractor and homeowner in the field. I work as closely as possible to Contractors and subs to review the drawings for any information they can help contribute before the drawings go for permit....if their contractor in on board early. A graphically clear and complete set of drawings is the best insurance a homeowner and developer has to avoid conflict free construction process. I advise my clients that a detailed set of construction documents serve as the most important part of their contract between them and the builder. Most importantly it helps insure that the design intent and the original vision is carried through to the completed project.
