The JY ESL (English as Second Language) Center renovation is located on the 7th floor of Wangjing tower, Beijing. Adjacent rooms are integrated into one open space, and a sense of community is created by the using of scattered “containers” and the space flow between them. 

Individual “containers” have different programs including lecture room, study, office and kitchen.Different materials such as galvanized steel, concrete, wood and brick are selected based on the programs and overall spatial quality. The floor is made of vintage grey bricks, which bring out the contrast between old and new.
