A new community center is designed for Mission Bay, San Francisco. Primary programs include an indoor basketball court, an outdoor basketball court and a fitness room. The site is a trapezoidal shaped plot adjacent to a future public park at the terminus of a linear park along Channel Street. This allows for the possibility of opening onto the park perceptually and physically. The site is also next to the bend in Highway 280 with views of the site below in the foreground of downtown. This relationship encourages conceiving the roof as a fifth façade.
