Tulum México is expanding, and soon is becoming a cosmopolitan city. A city that somehow resembles “Delirious of New York”, As “Manhattan is the arena of the terminal stage of Western Civilization. The culture of congestion”. Harvard Architectural manifesto describes. Tulum instead, is the early stage on a new civilization as the culture of Un congestion. From high rises and cosmopolitan living, to low density self sufficient communities. From egocentric and individualistic to more community driven world.

So far, a little has been done to preserve the unique Tropical moist forests ecosystem around Tulum, but self sufficient and low density developments can create real impact to preserve it.

Tulum has two main underground rivers and one of the world’s longest underground rivers on earth, connecting hundreds of thousands of  water formations. Therefore, preservation is unquestionable and the use of natural resources as a recreational use should be thought as a bless, giving back to nature instead.

Ciudadela Jardin community is also part of “Consciente” which mean “conscious” referring to the low density development and its sustainable approach. The project itself tends to protects this amazing place, while visitors can enjoy it.

Inhabitants can enjoy Cenotes and playing an active role in the cenote preservation. We aim for a jungle symbiosis with bamboo floating canopies pavilions  Cenote club,  mystical sauna temple, sport centre, play centre, yoga shala , and a lookout.

Cenote club will be the main figure of all temples with its main structure that resembles mangroves, supports an organic roof made of bamboo that seams  to fly over the forest.

Mayans used look into nature to recreated in art, in temples. They watch the sky and universe to find solutions, so we also try to promote art in Mayan way.

Cenote Sauna keeps the cenotes in their natural appearance, but it also recreates a  complementary feature that blends into the mystical forest. Mangrove temple is a place to contemplate nature. Sport centre with a circular shape if seen from above, is a big plate that shapes a bowl that creates the program. Play centre is also a composition of circular shapes, as seen from above creating different shapes projected on different stages, rhythms, and colours that shape the space almost accidentally.Yoga Shala is another kind of temple, for those who practice yoga or any other spiritual-body practice.

As part of the masterplan, clean water , Natural vegetation conservation and reproduction are essential part of the project.

Design approach idea tends to re imagine architecture .

We have to delete from our minds the way we look and design , the way we are used to live . As more we understand it, as more we create different solutions that not necessarily are concrete boxes and straight roads, instead an organic shape out of nature can shape our future.
