House MM's location and its closeness to the coastline of Slovenia, implies hot and dry climate in the summer and mild, but windy winters. With this in mind, the design of the house is turning inwards, with a circular and open disposition, sustainability and quality ambients.
Typologically, the design refers to a villa with a focused central disposition and a central spiritual space, which elevates the house above the level of an ordinary residential house. The role of a two-leveled structural accent that binds the facility and creates a circular composition,, is taken by the central green atrium. The central atrium serves as a natural ventilation shaft, as it did in Mediterranean for centuries. And from once emphasized classical entrance halls and monumental staircases, the design of the House MM leaves the resident to explore and to use its micro-ambients and accents in various ways. http://www.trost.si/
