Ark Herb Farm

The firm was approached by the owner of an existing 17-acre commercial botanical garden in Costa Rica. He asked us to propose redevelopments and expansions that could improve tourist traffic. I worked on all levels of this project - conceptual design through design development - while overseeing a small team of staff and interns. We initially proposed new paths, workshops, and a handful of cabana-style hotel rooms to support future tourism growth. We then completed a design for a new restaurant and welcome center that utilized local, sustainable materials and contemporary take on the Spanish colonial aesthetic. The result is an elegant design with a eco-friendly and cultural roots.
