Green Spiral

SITE ANALYSIS

This site is located in Dalian, Jilin Province, surrounded by a forest park. There is also a lake on the site. This project maximums the value of natural sceneries by using them vertically. It occupies as small area as possible to build the activity center, in order to peotect the forest. When entering the site, visitors will walk on a small path in forest, heading to the entrance concealed in woods.

ECOLOGICAL STRATEGIES

With the aim to reduce energy consumption, satisfy the comfortable feeling of users, and connect architecture to city’s public spaces, we try to eliminate the isolation between architecture and environment, in order to create multiple public spaces for interactions between people and nature. These spaces of different heights bring comfortable feelings of nature to both outdoors and indoors.

CONCEPTUAL AND TECHNICAL GREEN DESIGN

Make “Green” as an inherent character of architecture, so that people can feel the “Green” everywhere and interact with it. The architecture is no longer an isolated box with piles of green technologies, but an organic combination of interior and outdoor.

PASSIVE DESIGN PRIORITY WITH METERIAL AND ENVIRONMENT

Dalian is Temperate Continental Monsoon Climate, mild in winter and cool in summer. Considering the climate, We use some passive designs: natural timber used as facing for thermal insulation, wood grids for sun shading, open spaces for natural ventilation and the use of water on the site for evaporative refrigeration.
