Located closely to the Arts & Crafts community of Cranbrook, this mid-century modern home was originally built in 1955. Its unique 5500 square feet of multiple split-levels, had not been lived in for over 3 years. Its light, bright and expansive ceilings, massive windows, privacy and peaceful non-motorized lakeside location is what drew its’ owners to the space.
The design-intention of this renovation was to fill the house with California inspired light, and bright colors, in order to shock one’s system in the midst of the grey midwest winters, and create a ‘glow’ from the lake-view below.
Artistic touches are scattered across the property: a hand-painted mural in the powder room, a modern exterior tile mural using electric blue grout, and custom cedar slats detailing both interior and exterior walls. Each handcrafted detail has made this home stand out from its landscape to create its own hidden sanctuary in the woods.
