Panther Ridge Residence
Inspired by the architect's roots in the tropics and his fascination with the rainforest's lush landscapes and cascading waterfalls, this residence sits on a 7.8 acre site nestled among pines, oaks and two man-made ponds. Two reflecting koi ponds "contain" the building at opposing diagonal corners as horizontal edges and a waterfall flows as the heart of a central courtyard.
The transparency from the open plan, the cooling effects and soothing sounds from the water features, the light patterns, high ceilings, warm woods and the rest of the natural materials utilized seamlessly blend the indoors and the outdoors into one experience. The design was a natural response to the site's existing climate and tropical influence.
