These new offices for a financial planning firm showcase pragmatic innovation through architectural design, which takes risks but also stays grounded in its own sense of place.
Located on the corner of two primary streets, this building marks its literal position within the city and defines a new gateway to the historic Towles Courty creative arts neighborhood. The massing of the building was slid toward the intersection of the streets, and the material language of the local bungalows was brought onto the building itself. The mitered siding delineates the sense of a corner "object" and the selectively used materials draw you into the heart of the neighborhood. The "traditional" material used in this refreshing way, like the siding on the street being transformed into a decorative element in the lobby, for example, became a dialogue starter between the building and its context.
