Oakland, CA
A Silicon Valley corporation leased a vacant mid-century elementary school to create an employee childcare campus. The project went beyond building renovation to an all-encompassing reinvention of the environment in keeping with the client’s Reggio Emilia educational approach. Colorful architectural insertions at a child’s scale create easily supervised places to play and learn. Layers of fun and varied outdoor rooms and interior spaces offer a complete transformation for the benefit of the children who will grow and thrive here.
