Park Slope Row House

We were approached by our client even before they relocated to New York after they'd spent several years living in Los Angeles.  With two small boys and a third teenage son away in school, a live-in nanny, and in the midst of a career change, our client had a lot on her plate and looked to us to help sort through on-the-market brownstones, namely in Park Slope.  Equipped with a clear understanding of the needs of the family, we toured a few townhouses and ultimately advised our client that this 1st Street gem could be artfully modified to address their entire program and really make the place feel like their East Coast home.

The focus of our work was to fully gut the garden level of the house, as well as the kitchen at the back of the parlor level, and modified a back stair that connected the two floors, opening up the access to the garden.  We also relocated the primary bathroom on the 3rd  floor, taking over an old office space that had beautiful light from two large windows at the back of the house creating a spacious and chic bathroom clad in handmade glazed wall tile and intricate stone mosaic on the floor.

Two other bathrooms as well as a tucked-away jewel box of a powder room hidden behind a concealed wall-door were also renovated. A gym, sauna, and laundry room were added on the new garden level, rounding out the architectural renovation.

We addressed the interiors of the entire house, starting with beautiful antique rugs, furnishings, and art that the client had collected and lived with in California.  We worked through the pieces in storage and gave the furnishings a fresh life, combining them in new ways while adding our own touches like bright, whimsical wallpaper from Fromental and Pierre Frey, vintage lighting from Italy, and chic elements to accessorize and capture the vibrant personality of our client and her family.
