For the 100th Anniversary of the City of Calgary Parks we proposed PICNIC as a design strategy for a garden that engages the visitors in multiple forms, beyond simple sitting and contemplation. Inspired in Pangaea, PICNIC is a progression of the geometry of the site that disperses itself across the entire stepped landscape. The project proposes the programming of the surface as a new ground for pleasure, not only accommodating picnic activities, but all sorts of engagements that already take place on the site, enriching the park’s life and vocation.
