We were called to redesign an existing office for a leading Real Estate Developer with the objective to accommodate a larger team at the same time create a healthier, invigorating working environment.

Sustainable design and efficient space planning were the key aspect of the Design brief.

Consequently, a space plan was developed so as to place all the cabins against the dead face of the office thus opening up the work are to a flood of natural daylight from the windows, penetrating the entire office. This significantly lowered energy consumption by reducing the dependence on artificial lighting. All work areas are equipped with task lights which can be switched on and off individually depending on occupancy. This makes it possible to keep overall lighting level low again reducing energy bills. Further reduction is achieved with the use of LED light fixtures through the entire office. Sensor operated lights and faucets in toilets limit wasteful consumption.

The Green theme also influenced the choice of materials. Low energy impact materials such as cork and coir sheets, MDF, calcium silicate boards, recycled carpets were used extensively while avoiding traditional construction materials such as wood, pop, etc. Red back painted glass is used as a high light espousing the brand identity of the Company.

The reception reflects the Clients commitment to Sustainability with pride of pace being held by a full height living wall. The waveform panelling in stainless steel at the reception back drop represents the cutting edge and innovation, another key aspect of the Clients brand image.

The focal point of the open office is a central glass enclosed conference room, flanked by courtyards on either side as well as planters on both ends. Recycled pine wood, jute backed chairs and coir sheets complete the grounded feel heightened by the use of living green walls and natural planters in the office area generating an uplifting, healthy work environment.
