Smith & Sauer is a design and architecture firm based in Brooklyn, New York.
Co-founders Dylan Sauer & Joe Smith met during graduate school at the Yale School of Architecture in 2005, and subsequently began collaborating on a series of competitions and design projects. Both partners bring experience that spans from small-scale architecture to urbanism & planning, specializing in residential, hospitality, institutional and art gallery project types.
Smith & Sauer recognize beauty in economy, and seek out useful solutions that actively engage their social, cultural, and environmental contexts. The office is committed to a locally-focused approach to design that researches, sources, and clarifies the unique conditions that define each project.
