Sibel Konu is a registered architect in Turkey with 12-years of experience. She has recently terminated her 9-year-long career as a design manager in ONCUOGLU + ACP and moved to Santiago, Chile. She is currently practicing as a freelance designer while looking for work opportunities in Chile.
She worked in a broad range of international projects especially in Russian and Middle Eastern Market predominantly on large scale hospitality, mixed-use, commercial, retail and residential types. She began her career with working drawings / documentation and promoted up to project management, however, due to the excellency of the design works she undertook, later on she has passed into conceptual design department for a career direction more based on design. With more responsibilities by time, she managed an abundant conceptual design projects, and lead the designs of various projects. Before her relocation to Chile, she was responsible for leading all the design matters of Dubai projects of the company in DubaiShe has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Middle East Technical University which is ranked among the top 100 universities announced by Times Higher Education (THE).
In addition to her career in architectural practice, as complementary, she is highly interested in other means of visual and cultural studies. She received her masters of arts degree in Graphic Design with an interdisciplinary thesis as a correlation of space, new media and graphic communication. She believes in the undeniable good role of balance in living practice and she tries to apply to her life. She likes drawing/painting, traveling and argentinean tango. She is also a professional tango instructor since she received the second placement in the 4th USA Argentine Tango Championship Salon Category in July 2010, in NYC.
She aims taking part in improving the quality of lived space for rising self-esteem of the users in addition to usability value. She tries to bridge different disciplines and perspectives together by turning serious thought towards ideal design.
She is looking for a position with increasing responsibilies that covers all aspects and phases of an architectural production with diverse duties, in order to learn and experience the architectural practice in Chile, preferably with a facility to follow up till the end of construction. She prefers taking part in an analytical and systematical workflow, ideally in a design process through a comprehensive design reseach.

* Directed the design matters of Dubai projects of Oncuoglu + ACP in partnership with Kaya PMC. Served as the design responsible of all the 3 concurrent projects in Dubai; 10 storey luxury residential w/ Gross Building Area (GBA) 15.000m2 and 9 storey serviced apartments w/ GBA 13.000m2 on Palm Jumeirah, 28 storey tower hotel apartments w/GBA 73.370m2 in Oldtown Burj Khalifa disrict. Proposed design of the tower is accepted as it is.
* All design management in Dubai Office and design coordination between Ankara head Office, Dubai branch and the client, as well as international subcontractors.

* Project management of Irkutsk Fortune City Mall, Russia w/ GBA 235.000m2 from ideation to frozen architecture and coordinated the project between Moscow, New York, Ankara and Istanbul offices as well as the engineer and subcontractors.

* Served as Job/Captain in Konfitur Shopping Center in Dolgaprodny, Russia (with GBA: 20,905 m2). Provided project management, working documentation and engineering coordination and drawing production. The building was awarded CRE Moscow 2010 Best Medium Sized Shopping Center.
* Project development up to tender stage for Mamyr Shopping Center in Almaty, Kazakhstan (with GBA: 46,900 m2, leasable area: 24,000 m2) and Ustkamenogorsk Shopping Center in Russia (with GBA: 30,000m2). Coordinated engineers and technicians and produced working drawings.
* Used BIM design tool Archicad 9 in tender stages of development of Ustkamenogorsk and Konfitur projects. Set the Archicad BIM work platform and systemized the workflow from scratch.
* Partial detailing of Espark Shopping Center in collaboration with ECE Projektmanagement G.m.b.H. & Co. in Eskişehir, Turkey (with GBA: 103,550 m2, leasable area: 80,000 m2) Produced the drawings for rotunda, escalator, lift, various interior claddings, ballustrade detailings.
