CAW was asked by PortSide NY to design the renovation of an existing Port Authority warehouse next to the Mary Whalen, a decommissioned oil tanker docked in Red Hook, Brooklyn. With the help of AE Superlab we designed a two-level office space built around an existing industrial mezzanine, a flexible boat building workshop and a community performance/gathering/exhibit space. Challenges included working out strategies to allow PortSide NY to bootstrap themselves into the space.
