The culmination of UCLA's M.Arch I program, this research studio led by Jason Payne used the on-site investigation of a Brazilian favela to generate novel tectonic forms in concert with an intensive exploration of representational strategies in drawing and models. After drawing and model studies in the fall and winter terms, the final project consisted of a proposal for a folly in a cleared site within a specific favela in São Paulo.
