A group of noted architects and close friends of visionary architect and draftsman Lebbeus Woods (1940-2012) will gather at The Cooper Union on Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 for a symposium honoring the life, work and fearless nature with which the late architect created.
Among the participants, SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss, trustee Thom Mayne, and design faculty Alexis Rochas and Dwayne Oyler will deliver speeches on their collaboration with Woods, emphasizing, among many other projects, a recent exhibition curated for the SCI-Arc Gallery, Lebbeus Woods is An Archetype.
Symposium topics include the importance of Woods’s writing, his blog, his insistence on tectonics, and his openness to collaboration. The event's impressive panelist line-up includes Peter Cook, Neil Denari, Steven Holl, Zaha Hadid, Zvi Hecker, Sanford Kwinter, Peter Noever, Wolf Prix, Michael Sorkin, and Anthony Vidler.
