February 23, 2017 (Boston, MA) - Bethany Lundell Garver, AIA, NCARB, education director at the Boston Architecture College was elected Northeast Regional Director of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA). Garver will serve a three-year term beginning on July 1, 2017.

As Northeast Regional Director and member of the national Board of Directors, Garver will serve as leader of the region’s constituent associations. She will facilitate conversations among the 24 Northeast ACSA member schools, chair meetings held by the region’s councils, and be responsible for the fiscal affairs of the constituent associations and the regional council. Garver also will guide regional schools and organizations applying for ACSA membership, while she is also developing documentation for publication in the ACSA’s Annual Report.

Bethany Lundell Garver is a registered architect and director of the CityLab Intensive program at the BAC. She joined the College as Director of Foundation Instruction in Practice in 2014 and her work focuses on urban design, experiential learning, and narrative.

“While running for this position, one of the most important questions I raised was how ACSA member schools might broaden our voice and substantiate the relevance of architectural education and its agency in humanities, science, sustainable urbanism, and technological advancement, particularly in light of systemic barriers to access and diversity in architectural education and practice,” said Garver. “I most look forward to joining the 23 other ACSA member schools throughout the Northeast by acting in response to these critical issues. Together, we can increase partnerships between the academy and practice, expand opportunities for design stewardship among diverse populations, and develop new educational models for a wide range of learners.”

About the ACSA
The ACSA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association of over 200 member schools in several categories, including full membership for all accredited programs in the United States and government-sanctioned schools in Canada, candidate membership for schools seeking accreditation, and affiliate membership for schools for two-year and international programs. In addition, the ACSA has over 300 supporting members composed of architecture firms, product associations and individuals.
