This existing building in Pennsylvania was selected for my Sophomore year project. It required students to be creative as the program was to design an office based on an extreme sport. After an extensive research, I chose Rock Climbing as it combines both rigid and organic forms having an active character. I believed it would be interesting to create a space that reflected these aspects. I designed an office space that met the requirements of 12 cubicles, a mezzanine, 2 manager's offices, a conference room, a waiting area, and copy room.
The space integrated an open floor plan that had an inviting entrance along with the reception area. I created a round mezzanine that encircled the cubicles below in order to have a two-story ceiling while allowing the workers and visitors to experience the main architectural piece of the ceiling.
