Renovation of a townhouse located in the Cobble Hill Historic District, Brooklyn, NY, with Ben Herzog Architect, PC, completed in 2022.
The clients bought this Cobble Hill landmarked townhouse for its gorgeous original features: the wide plank pine floor boards and elaborate architectural details. We were tasked with maintaining and preserving as much of the historic character and feel as possible. On the parlor level, the existing front living room was preserved intact, including an unusual pair of Italianate pilasters. A new, enlarged and stylistically appropriate kitchen and wide span of windows with deck access was added at the rear of the house. The colorful powder room is tucked away next to the built-in pantry and refrigerator.
The peaceful primary bedroom is on the second floor with a classic ensuite bathroom and closet. A cozy and dark blue den at the front of the house often serves as a home office. Laundry is accessed from the hall through cane-paneled doors. On the top level, there are two additional bedrooms and a small nursery for this growing family. All soft goods and furniture, including windows treatments and custom furniture was designed by Rebecca Amir.
This project was featured in the July / August 2023 Issue of Luxe Interiors + Design, Greater New York.
