This mass-timber pod house is a high-end single-family home located on the coast of New York State.
The entire structure consists of 10 pods, the main house being comprised of 6 and the remaining 4 making up the guest house. The main home is attached to the guest house via a pedestrian bridge spanning 62 feet (~18.9m). The home was primarily a mass timber construction project, consisting of 9 different types of glulam beams and 3 different types of timber columns. The floors were also constructed of CLT. The remaining structural components were steel and concrete. The majority of structural and architectural framing members had to be custom designed for the client’s purposes.
My role for this project as a junior engineer included drafting floor- plans, creating new Revit families for the custom members, drafting details and performing calculations for specific members. This project and all associated drawings & calculations were completed for Werner Sobek New York Corp. Please refer to portfolio for more information.
