The Park Place feasibility study was completed to examine how the current facade could be retrofit with new glazing units to optimize the building envelope. The wall area of this building was approximately 123,000 sq. ft. with 67% of that area being covered by the current glazing system. The former aluminum heat cabinet which is currently void is to be filled with Batt insulation, which greatly reduces the heat loss through the section.
My role for this project was to present feasible options and to analyze them in THERM to determine cost and overall efficiency. Sustainability research was also part of this project, to establish which solution provided the best performance and appearance long-term. The best solution was found to be the storm window system.
