In an effort to extend and reflect the vast reach that UC Berkeley has beyond its discrete campus, the academic think tank - located at the Ashby BART Station - targets the need for environmental education and outreach across the Bay. Additionally inspired by the site’s topography and voids created by the lack of commercial and residential spaces, the program’s primary focus is directed toward the sloping connections from the street to the BART station, and as such, emphasizes a central courtyard overlooked by the programmatic buildings that surround it.
