Live/Work Architecture Studio

Unlike much of the existing architecture on Octavia Boulevard, the site of a former freeway, this RE-live/RE-work/RE-think architectural studio focuses on the engagement of the street in the hopes of inviting passer-bys and customers into the space. The entrance is one that can transform, as during the day it is oriented length-wise to allow more of a workshop and public gallery for the resident architect; yet at night, the “box” rotates – much like a revolving door – to allow entry through staircase to the private upper levels, where the architect lives. Through this new architectural site, attention is given to the pedestrian, not the car, and in creating a more dynamic relationship between public and private, sidewalk and gallery, visitors are effectually welcomed into a space that allows them a different experience from the rest of those offered along the boulevard.
