Located in Aspen’s historic West End District, this project restores a classic Victorian home to showcase its original detail and charm, and further pairs it with a modern architectural addition. The two distinctly unique structures are connected by a linking room of glass and wood that opens up to allow for free movement between the public facing garden and the private interior yard. Remaining unseen is a newly constructed subterranean level that connects the two parts of the home for additional living appointments needed by a growing family. The hand cast artisan brick and lightly stained wood windows of the new addition and link subtly transition the architecture of the site from historic vernacular to a timelessly, modern form.
