The hotel interior design focuses on transforming the cultural identity of Danzhou into a new concept of hospitality. Through the mix of a strong local culture and an international design vision the aim is to reinterpret ate traditional shapes p p and materials in a contemporary perspective. Considering the local culture as a conceptual base the project takes shape from Danzhou cultural and natural treasures. The presence of salt stone, a memorable landmark of the area, inspired the design of the lobby giving a visual perspective of stones that leads from the entrance to the swimming pool area. The solemnity and impressive effect of the welcoming entrance is marked by four red columns that are bearing the skyscraper structure made by a traditional roof structure. Under the skylight a glass water fountain, as a shiny sparkling sculpture, emphasizes the effect of the natural lighting screened and reflected by an artistic waterfall. A screening wall is conceived as background of the entrance, using traditional elements such as Chinese wood screens cut by a round gate the frames the glass embossed shape of Su Dong Po, through which can be overseen the salt stones continuing to the outdoor area. A poem of the writer is also floating over two shiny stone columns that close the shape of the screen wall. The overall design is inspired by the place and inspires a new modern attitude of enjoying hospitality areas as part of the luxury target of an international hotel brand.
