Preleminary study to adapt a preexisting comercial space, in the center of Lousado Vilage (Vila Nova de Famalicão - Portugal) to a Butcher's Shop, made for a private costumer. Located in an old comercial and housing building, even if without structural changes it demanded a rigorous spacial management in order to follow the program suggested by the costumer and obey the rules and legislation aplied to that kind of trade.
During the design phase there where considered the strict budget limitations, as well as an effort to educate the client for aesthetic issues, for whom they were not a decisive factor. It was elabored a Butcher's Shop model focused on the commerce aspect and the abstract "shop" concept in order to reduce the negative psychological/visual weight that this kind of trade usually has. To favour the psychological/visual confort and enhance the space's sofistication, using economic materials, the chromatic values and the placement of technical furniture were carefully chosen, to achieve a balanced interaction between programatic needs, space limitations and aesthetic results.
