Ralph Gentile • Architects redesigned the interior of the original Bel Air Bar & Grill for the new owner, Susan Disney Lord, Walt Disney's niece. A glass entry featuring a bougainvillea design, created by Weil Studios, is the new dramatic entry to the redesigned building. Inside, the original bar was relocated to create a welcoming host area.
The new bar was redesigned with dark wood and inset leather panels, a new back bar liquor display, glass pendants, wood tile floors, and high-backed bar stools upholstered in leather and linen fabric. Dark tile floors add warmth to the dining areas, which include plush booth and banquette seating, richly upholstered chairs, and original artwork adorning cork paneled walls.
The "cottage" room offers seating for larger groups beneath a vaulted ceiling with white trusses. Crisp wainscot in white trims the space, while a fireplace in the main dining room adds additional warmth.
Upstairs, a new private dining room includes an additional fireplace, and showcases a perfect view to the magnificent Getty Center museum.
