Vanda House
This bungalow design project is about celebrating beauty of an ordinary orchid farm’s atmosphere. Pruthiphon were impressed by the orchid farm where the new house will be built adjacent to it. The architect reinterpreted existing elements like shading device, grid order, space arrangement and gradient colour of orchid flower along with studied lifestyle and working routine of an orchid farmer who commissioned the architect to design the house for his family.
The house is laid in solid square shape where the building itself blocks direct connection between residents and farmworkers. The architect laid courtyard where old mango tree is located to create retreat area for residents and a pivot point for the whole house.
The fifth facade of the house is a big shaded area where farmer work on their daily task. It is deliberately located in front of the main entrance this to ensure that both residents and guests can observe and appreciate farming activity daily.
