The Pattern of Social and Natural Environment of the Bamiyan Valley

The project aims to reveal the embroidery of green field into the Cultural Centre territory, also it tend to imply a combination of anthropomorphic forms that repeat Buddha’s cliffs and Islamic symbolism under the entrance wall. External design of the elevation, define the aspectual line of the mountain, at the same time the lines which are going through the wall can be interpreted as those cultures that live in the valley, and show us that in the fact they all can meet in one place; that they can be unified by one architectural form and spatial articulation of it.

From the main entrance to the territory, a view will be open to locals and visitors, the path will snake according to the riverside until the entrance to the proper building of the Centre. Walking by this meandering way, people will open a great atmosphere, given by natural paths of the river side.Artwork combines natural image across the first building territory, which leads to the synchronisation of the Valley’s specific typology.

Whole upper building will contain the forms and patterns of local environment. The line of the elevation may be interpreted from one side as austere design, and from the other side it  repeats the entire  form of the valley.

The relief its self allow securitization of the territory. the building situated at the bottom repeat the tectonic of the cliffs situated at the mountain in front view, and the area in front of the building will have the function of a garden which will have the role of social activity as an open space.

The exhibition hall will be connected with the tea house, and the view will give opportunity to see not only the view over the mountain but also over the whole valley, the hall as well as tea house will be provided with daily light.

Bellow building will include the line of necessary spaces for workshops, classrooms and performance hall located at the foundation of the sharped relief which passes across the upper area to the below zone.

The line of the lower construction will be covered by a roof which will represent a green strip until the end of the below area, also the lighting will be supplied by skylights from the top of the building.

The strait of the Cultural Centre proposal was oriented to rebuild the prototype of the valley in it. To transpose the feeling of mountains presence, and their giant niches which appear like a natural shield bounding, in which the rock have the role of home at the same time.
