The new multi-purpose stadium at Colorado State University is more than a new stadium for football fans. It’s a building that captures the passion and trajectory of campus, becoming a place for students, fans and the community to learn, socialize and celebrate. The $220 million on-campus stadium is designed as an open-air entertainment, academic and training destination. The design embraces the natural beauty, topography and visual connections to the Rocky Mountains and brings football back to the Colorado State University campus.
The plaza on the north side of the stadium provides space to continue important campus traditions and create future traditions to re-engage students and fans. Known for sustainable leadership, the university has placed importance on achieving LEED Gold and the design reflects this. The material palette from the campus is pulled from the earth, reflective of the natural surroundings, and the stadium makes use of these same materials, incorporating them into vertical masses. The material palette runs from exterior to interior, melding the spaces and bringing the outdoors in.
In addition to the incorporation of the latest technology and amenities, the new facility features a sideline club with access to the field, the first of its kind in collegiate football. Additional premium spaces include loge boxes, clubs, sideline suites and a two level press box on the west side of the stadium. The stadium fully integrates into the school’s campus in addition to the Great Green recreational corridor by way of north and south plazas that create visual and physical connections between the stadium and community.
