...Work from a recent competition entry...
...A Study of Perspective. Students were asked to build an architectural model of a space from only a photograph and a plan, using vanishing lines to create the heights of walls, railings, stairs, and openings.
...This model is an abstraction of human motion through space. Students were asked to create diagrams of these motions and select datum lines that would create a series of objects along a timeline. This study was of a human throwing a ball (blue) and another human being hit by a ball (red).
...Working with a Kit of Parts, students were asked to create a Sculpture Garden in which they studied spacial hierarchy, circulation, regulating lines, axial procession, and the creation of space in an architectural manner. This perspective was constructed by creating a 60 degree cone of vision, a picture plane at which all lines ended and were drawn down to the perspective, and calculated heights to achieve the final drawing.
