Germantown Residence

This studio tasked the reclamation of a small brick electric plant from the 1800s located in Germantown, Ohio. The aim was to preserve as much of the historic building as possible while converting and expanding the space into a single family residence for a growing family. The primary program called for guest quarters, two auxiliary bedrooms, and a large studio space. Natural lighting was the main focus of this design, with large skylights flooding the main living space with year round illumination. The mass of the residence enfolds a semi-private courtyard created by a screen of vegetation. The open floor plan of the primary structure promotes a tight-knit and interconnected family environment.
