The goal of this thesis was to provide a human hospital environment in the new development ward of Thu Thiem in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The exterior is concrete with interior finishes of native woods and other materials. The exterior also has a series of screens with bougainvillea vines as both a decorative effect and a method of mitigating the heat island of the urban area.
The development of the plans is based on the constraint of the site as well as the program requirements. The primary organizing feature of the plan is a line axial gallery, servicing the major wards as well as the various entry points into the complex. The hospital also allows itself further expansion on adjacent lots of land as well.
