This furniture installation was built to provide students with independent computer monitors to connect with the students' laptops. This gives them a much needed larger workspace when designing. The system was designed using Rhinoceros 3D Modeling Software and then was both hand constructed and machine cut. The project utilized steel, aluminum, plywood, and brushed aluminum laminated sheets of MDF. The aluminum backing pieces included power chords for a number of different devices to be readily available at each station. The aluminum backing pieces were machine fabricated and these chords were designed to include pulley systems that retracted each chord back into the system while not in use. The patterning in the steel structure beams was carefully done by hand with an angle grinder.
