As a recent graduate from the University of Cincinnati’s Bachelor’s of Architecture program, I am attempting to find my niche in the real world of design. Throughout my schooling it became clear to me that design is all encompassing and can be applied to all areas of life. Design isn’t simply architecture. Design thinking and process, once learned, can be applied and adapted to product design, graphic design, digital design and all of the fine arts. This is the way that I believe design and architecture must be approached, as architecture in and of itself encompasses all of these design fields into one holistic field. This view requires the architectural designer to be adept in more than one area of design and this is the kind of mindset that I aim to bring into my future work.
