To respond to the need of a cultural upgrade, we proposed that CUHK must become a new university model in order to become an interface between education, community and industry. Instead of adopting a static grid system and overlay it onto the Longgang district, we establish lines of interface, which are as a result linked together with green, pedestrian linkage and infrastructural networks.
This interface creates directions, possibilities and unexpected emergent qualities. This new model will not only embody educational program, but also that of industrial and communal needs, such as incubator offices, theatres, exhibition and conference center.
