KHOUSE

Khouse represents the simple, utilitarian, high spirited lifestyle of college students. Adolescents in their prime require the most amount of space in the tightest rooms. Having been flushed through the mold - the unforgettable freshman dorm - the only private spaces are each 100sqft leaving the rest as their playground. The design of the house culminates at the exposed steel stairs. The artery that links those that live above to those below is also the principle behind the structure – anchored by a steel channel on one side and suspended from steel rods on the other. Where the stairs appear to graze the floor, exposed concrete flush with the flooring immediately traces the eyes through the living space directly outside viewing the natural living room.
