(1)During my 3rd year we had to build an object to hold our most prized possession on my furniture design studio. I decided to build a jewelry box that held the locket which contains my father’s ashes. (2)During my senior year we had to design an improvement area for the Griffon Pond Animal Shelter which is a nonprofit facility. I focused to study on designing for memory. I wanted to design a memorial wall that people who lost animals can take important items of their pets and have them stored in a special way. The wall had a variety of cubbies that people could rent out so that way their items could be held on display for them, but also that the animal shelter can make a profit also renting the cubbies out. This way the shelter can gain an income for the things they need, but also the animal’s owners can have a nicer and more memorialized way to remember their pet.  (3)During my second year of study we focused entirely on learning to render materials by hand before ever going into the computer. I rendered materials such as wood, metals and fabrics with a variety of techniques. I used color pencils, water colors, chalk, etc. Anything that would teach us the real visibility of the material to really understand the properties of different materials on paper by hand.(4)Lastly I included images that I took while I studied abroad my second year in New Zealand. While I was living there I was blessed to make friends whose family has connections to the designer David Trubridge. I had the amazing opportunity to go to his workshop and see the different products being designed at a variety or different scales. I was also able to sit down with a member of the design team and discuss different areas they wanted to focus on as a team and also concerns I had about different areas of Interiors. By being their and seeing things firsthand, it really inspired and encourage me in the area I decided to study at school.
