My thesis was about developing this idea of a comfortable corridor for the elderly that in reality bridged the gap between the comfort of space (home) and the safety of the institution (ADA codes). By achieving this you can create an environment that is healthy, safe, not depressing and relaxing. The area of corridors was chosen based on extensive research that resulted in this area being the highest in pedestrian traffic, highest risk in injuries and most institutional and uncomfortable among residents.
