The inspiration of Meredith Publications space emerged from deciduous black walnut trees native to Georgia. The space signifies basic elements of a tree; starting from the roots, trunk, limbs, leaves, and finally walnuts.
The roots represent the executives, or the roots of the company. This is most defined by the centrally located executive conference room where all the core decisions are born and implemented. The trunk, represented by the growth rings of a tree, symbolize the expansion of the company into the Atlanta market; this is visualized in the circulation paths surrounding the executive offices. The limbs indicate the different departments of the organization; the budding leaves symbolize the individual designated spaces for employees scattered throughout the work space. The grand walnut reception desk represents Meredith Publication's clientele and the first point of contact with consumers.
The overall, design of Meredith Publications consists of five key elements; line, rhythm, proportion, balance, asymmetry, and concentric circles implemented throughout the space in a asymmetrical plan.
