This design concept coupled low-cost housing with a communal orientation to allow for greater utility. The houses are a hybrid compressed earth block with a lightweight wood/metal frame. A lower course of earth block can be altered in height so that the houses can vary aesthetically. The same material can be used in the interior to build a stove and other furniture. A wooden frame that sits on top of the earth block featureas operable wooden shutters. This allows the houses to utilize cross breezes in moderating the dwelling’s temperature. The roof is a simple shed roof that allows hot air to follow the slope up and out. The roof is corrugated metal, chosen for its availability and reliability.
