Mixed Use Apartment Tower

Mixed use apartment tower located on a small (1500 sq m) lot in downtown Rotterdam, the Netherlands.  The tower's main design feature is its corner cantilever hanging over an outdoor plaza space.  The building features retail stores, a gym, cafe and bookstore in addition to around 250 apartments.  The cantilevered section of the building also provides a rooftop terrace for residents of the building to use and enjoy as well as a lounge and roof deck on the highest levels of the tower.

The facade of the building features an extended mullion system which serves multiple functions for the building.  The extended mullions not only provide shade for the apartments behind the facade but they also contain planters and PV panels.  The amount of PV panels, planters and orientation of the mullions changes depending on the orientation of each facade to accommodate the environment.
