This “Urban Furniture” project was designed to reinvigorate the River-front Park in downtown Troy, NY.
The metal “ring-like” form seems almost foreign to the grass area it is placed in. The organization and
placement of the elements creates different relationships for interaction, including sitting, lounging, or
even play. Purposeful ambiguity allows for these variety of uses based on perspective. An adult may see
a nice place to sit or lounge, where as a child may see a place to climb or run around. A textured surface
creates an easy grip for children to climb on or adults to sit on without sliding off. The angled surface
gives a feeling of potential movement making it easy for someone to sit for a moment before jumping up
to play. The variability in this form allows it to be the perfect addition to any city or park around the world.
