The design proposal for remodeling a fireplace suggests new finish material on fireplace walls from floor to ceiling and asymmetrical composition with furnishing new mantelpiece around fireplace glass door; three black granite (or substitute artificial black stone) shelves as an extension to wall on left side of new mantelpiece and one shelf (white stone or laminated wood) above new mantel box as shown on drawings, giving existing fireplace sleek, modern contemporary look and improving its function and use.
For new finish on fireplace walls I proposed three options including client's suggestion for stacked stone or grey slate tile and, in addition, my suggestion for stainless steel. Combination of proposed materials and new asymmetrical design composition will complement the adjacent open spaces and become visual focal point of the living room. New fireplace mantel box and new shelves will provide additional storage place for TV equipment, multimedia devices and home accessories.
I enclosed some specifications from suppliers on proposed finishes. Client did not request additional plans, sections, research and consultations.
