This Southeast Seattle neighborhood at the northern tip of Rainier Valley has embraced their future as a Transit Oriented Development. With the nearby Mount Baker Sound Transit LRT station, the area is a prime for redevelopment. Seattle has designated this as a station zone, and many policies are in place to encourage pedestrian use and growth as a town center. The neighborhood actively supports dense, transit rich development opportunities. This project was our solution proposed for the ULI urban design competition 2011 problem. The objective was to promote the area using TOD development and considering the needs, character and aspiration of the minorities and different ethnicities by which the site is distinguished. The team included four members from different backgrounds and I was the architect envisioning the image and the character of the community using perspectives and sections.
